Event Raises Proceeds to Protect Over 23 African
Families in the Fight Against Malaria, the Number One Killer
of Children in Africa
DUBLIN, CA July 3, 2007 Hillsdale Home Fine Décor
Warehouse raised proceeds to protect over 23 African families
in the fight against Malaria at its Summer Entertaining Charity
Event hosting the Women of Windemere social club. The event
featured a summer cooking demonstration by Rodney Worth, owner
and executive chef of acclaimed Danville restaurant The Peasant
& The Pear followed by Setting the Perfect Table
tabletop design demonstration by Deb Sands, lead designer for
Hillsdale Home.
Hillsdale Home donated 10 percent of the evening proceeds to
Nothing But Nets, a non-profit organization, set up by the UN
foundation, dedicated to preventing Malaria, one of the most
serious global health issues and the number one killer of children
in Africa. Nothing But Nets provides and distributes insecticide
treated mosquito nets and educates families on the usage of
these nets, which have the ability to protect a family against
the contraction of Malaria for up to four years.
As a new member of Dublin, Hillsdale Home seeks to play
an active role in this great community, its events and issues,
as well as charitable causes. Our Summer Entertaining charity
event is just the first in a host of events and initiatives
that we plan to participate in and sponsor to show our support
and dedication to our area and the world at large, said
Matthew Griffiths, Hillsdale Home Dublin store manager and investor.
Hillsdale Home is a proud sponsor of the Nothing But Nets
campaign in the fight against malaria because we feel strongly
about safeguarding the worlds families against life threatening
disease and illnesses like malaria.
Chef Worths Summer Cooking demonstration focused on simple
summer favorites with a twist such a fresh peach bruschetta
and summer berry salad with homemade poppy seed dressing. Hillsdale
Home Lead Designer Sands tabletop design demonstration
highlighted ways to create an artistic and inviting atmosphere
through tabletop design for dining, cocktail and console tables.
Sands noted that use and functionality are key design factors
and should be of primary consideration when putting together
tabletop displays.
Since it was founded in 2004, Hillsdale Home has been working
closely with the design community and clients in the greater
Sacramento and East Bay Area to create functionally beautiful
living spaces that address individual lifestyle needs and reflect
personal style. Furthermore, Hillsdale Homes design driven
product offering focuses on incorporating the latest in interior
design with classic and timeless elements, featuring diverse
collections and product lines that define global chic and that
well traveled look that is so popular today.
The companys unique vision of offering value driven home
décor, unique and high quality products, as well as premium
services has enabled it to set itself apart in the greater Sacramento
home décor market and establish a strong reputation in
the area, resulting in continued strong growth in a slowing
market. As a result, Hillsdale Home made the decision to expand
its business, opening locations in the Bay Areas rapidly
growing Dublin and the Salt Lake City markets. Hillsdale Home-Dublin
opened its doors last spring and Hillsdale Home-Salt Lake City
is scheduled to open early fall.
